Results*

*This project is still in the pre-launch. Because I was a team leader on this project, I did not create all of the designs or documents represented below. Although I contributed to the design process, my primary role was to ensure project delivery and alignment with objectives.

Relevance to Aviation Professionals

  • A variety of aviation-related supplemental readings were selected to complement each lesson.

  • Assessment questions assessed learning objectives.

  • Discussion questions and engagement practices combine aviation text and textbook content at higher-level Blooms, prompting learner reflection and application.

  • The unit project had learners synthesize their knowledge and perform their new skills in a real, relevant, and valuable situation.

User-Friendly Design

  • Consistent structure of buttons and images to reduce cognitive load on the learner.

  • Directions pop-outs and downloads available with resource links to provide easy access.

ELL Support

  • The rationale was documented for the selection of assessment and discussion questions including relevance to ELL support and alignment with rigorous learning objectives.

  • Conversation starters were developed in collaboration with Kayla Beltran, a peer with expertise in ELL academic needs.

  • Student assignments include audio, video, and written responses in order to support holistic language practice.

Learner Motivation

  • Learner motivation was fostered in several ways, including creating a realistic, detailed scenario that connects the value of the content to the students’ professional career success.

  • Assessment rigor was strategically increased to foster increased investment and motivation.
